Bone Plugs

Jewelry is a special thing. It can be something that is new and chosen exactly for its appeal to the specific buyer. But it can also be a unique ornament that is passed from generation to generation through a family, carrying memories along with it. It can have no meaning at all. Or it can represent a significant event in someone's life. Where do bone plugs fit into this continual stream of beauty in all of our lives? That is up to the wearers and their sensibilities. Granted, bone plugs aren't something that you would normally see passed down through a family. That honor is reserved for necklaces, bracelets, or the occasional engagement ring. There are fmailies that have had those handed down from mother to daughter for hundreds of years.

But do bone plugs necessarily have to have no meaning just because they are usually a firsthand kind of purchase? Not at all. They can mean a lot of things, depending on the buyer. Anything we put on ourselves has a tendency to become a part of us.

Maybe you are graduating from high school or college, for example, and you want to get something to commemorate the event. Either of those, for some, can be seen as a passing into aulthood, after all. Either is, without a doubt, a wonderful achievement. So why not have an ornament to remember it by? Now, am I saying that this is the only reason to buy them? Absolutely not! Sometimes you just want a piece of jewelry for its beauty. Just because you see it and it speaks to you. It may encapsulate the image you want to project to the world so divinely. There is nothing wrong with this being all that you need. Fond memories and sentimentality do make things better much of the time, but let's face it, much of the time it's also true that pretty is just pretty! The great thing about bone plugs is that they can be both of these things. It just depends on what you want.
